What is the structure of the bachelor's program?

The HOFA bachelor’s program is made up of two parts: First, you complete the two-year, officially certified AUDIO DIPLOMA at HOFA-College. This is followed by a one-year bachelor top-up at our partner university, the Triagon Academy.

After completing your DIPLOMA degree, you can enrol for the twelve-month bachelor’s program at any time.

Both the DIPLOMA course and the bachelor top-up are designed as distance learning courses – HOFA-College and Triagon Academy both provide online learning platforms. This means you learn with study materials, videos, digital live lectures and webinars. All assignments can be completed at home and then submitted for analysis and assessment. The HOFA tutors are available by phone, email, and chat for all your questions on audio engineering and course-related issues throughout your studies, including the bachelor top-up. The part-time learning program gives you maximum flexibility and allows you to combine your studies with work and family life.

Why go for a bachelor's degree?

Depending on your personal goals, you should consider whether a bachelor’s degree in audio engineering and music production makes sense for you. If you are primarily interested in acquiring the skills for professional music production, the two-year AUDIO DIPLOMA may be the perfect course for you.

However, if you are looking for professional promotion and good career opportunities, an academic degree with international accreditation will prove helpful in many cases. The bachelor’s degree creates confidence among employers and customers, which can be particularly important to stand out from the competition. You will also make valuable contacts with your tutors, fellow students, and business experts. These networks can be highly valuable for your professional development.

What you will learn in the bachelor's program

The HOFA Bachelor program is specifically designed to meet the demands of the audio industry. It combines theoretical knowledge with practical skills and offers students a comprehensive education in all relevant areas of audio engineering and music production.

In the AUDIO DIPLOMA, you will learn all relevant techniques in recording, mixing, producing, and mastering, from the basics to expert level. You will also gain valuable know-how in other essential fields of the music industry.

The top-up program will teach you methodical and academic work and will cover current developments in the industry. You will also complete your own project in the field of audio engineering, which will be supervised by experienced lecturers from the Triagon Academy. To conclude your studies, you will then write your bachelor’s thesis.

Numerous certificates and an internationally recognized bachelor's degree

During the DIPLOMA course at HOFA-College, you can acquire several certificates that prove your expertise in various audio fields. You will earn the “Audio Assistant” and “Audio Engineer” certificates as well as up to 20 topic certificates, for example in recording, mixing, mastering, music production, acoustics, music business, live sound engineering, sound design and many other topics.

The DIPLOMA course concludes with the Audio Engineering DIPLOMA. With this certificate, you can then enrol for the bachelor’s program at our partner university and graduate with the internationally recognized “Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Creative Media (Audio Engineering)” in just one more year.

Following this, you even have the option of continuing your studies in the Triagon Academy’s Master’s program.

Prerequisites for admission

By completing the AUDIO DIPLOMA at HOFA-College, you have already fulfilled the most important prerequisite for the bachelor’s program. In addition, you need at least a certificate of intermediate education (e.g. US High School Diploma or UK GCSE (General Certificate of Secondary Education)). However, it is also possible to be admitted without an intermediate school-leaving certificate if other achievements can be accredited.

Otherwise, no specific school grades are required and there is no minimum age.

These prerequisites only apply to the bachelor top-up. The AUDIO DIPLOMA and all other courses at HOFA-College have no prerequisites for participation.

Costs and benefits

The AUDIO DIPLOMA online course at HOFA-College costs approximately €5,000. If you decide to continue with the one-year bachelor’s program, you will have to pay an additional €7,500 in tuition fees (including admission and examination fees). If you wish, it is also possible to pay the course and tuition fees in instalments. The average cost per month is around €350, which is significantly lower than other private degree courses.

A bachelor’s degree can increase your monthly gross salary by approximately €500 to €1,000. This means you will quickly be able to recoup the costs of your studies and benefit from your academic degree for the rest of your professional life.

Conclusion

The bachelor’s program at HOFA-College is a practical and affordable way to gain your bachelor’s degree in audio engineering. The flexibility of the correspondence course also allows you to combine your studies with your job and family. If you’re looking for in-depth knowledge, lots of practical experience, real audio industry experts as tutors and an internationally recognized academic degree, you’ve come to the right place.
